Humid

It's soo humid here today. The Weather Network says that it's only 14°C outside but I swear it's a lot more than that. The clouds are so dark over head you would think we will get thunder and lightening now, or soon.
I was talking to Janice on the phone last night for a good half hour, them my cell started to beep at me like crazy. I could hardly hear her. SO I had to cut it shourt. I felt so bad for that because we were talking about so much and I didn't want to stop lol. Janice is doing so well up there, I'm glad she is happy there. We were all worried she would hate it there.

The Spur

These past few days have just flown by.
Right after mom and dad left Jenn went out to the store, when she came back she had some happy face helium balloons for us all. Something which really brought a smile to us all. She is always so thoughtful.
On the 21st Jenn's brother Jeff came back home from Alberta. We had to pick him up at the airport at 12:30 am. The flight was 15 minutes late. The cab driver that took us to the airport was very kind and told us a way to get a cheaper fare while leaving the airport. Wanna know what it is? When you want to leave call a cab and tell them to go to the departures entrance. They say it's like 3-4 dollars cheaper than going with one of the cabs just waiting for people.
We all went downtown on the 22nd. One of Jeff's friends was playing some tunes down there and we all went to see him play. It was the SPUR, that bar was sooooooo small!!! I cant believe they were able to fit a pool table in there. The bathrooms were so bad tho! Don't get me started on that....Blegh!
The beer was cheap also shots were VERY cheap too. I bought a round for us all and someone that I didn't even know. She reminded me of J. Morgan. Same hair and height. Kinda freaked me out at first because I thought it was her. She as sitting at out table and I thought it would be nice to ask. I didn't want her to feel left out. lol after all the shots were only a toonie each.

It's some warm here lately. All the trees have finally come awake now, for a bout a week now actually. I love this city in the summer. So green and mostly clean looking. The people seem more friendly during the summer.

Oh and for those of you that may be a fan and never heard. Russell Crow stopped by a pub on George street a week or so ago and played a few tunes from his new CD that Alan Doyle (Great Big Sea) is producing. They say he made a little joke about throwing his cell phone at that person's face. I never actually hear what he said tho. It must have been nice to see a big star though.
Here are some pictures:

I also heard that Opera bought one of those Big expensive cabins on the west coast. I tell ya! All the stars are coming to Newfoundland lol

Leaveing the nest

Mom and dad are now on the Nova Scotia, New Brunswick border staying in a hotel for the night. They are going to arrive at their new place tomorrow morning sometime.
It seems like usually you would leave your parents and move to a new place and start your own life. I have done that but I haven't moved far away. This time mom and dad have "left the nest" leaving their 3 young 20 somethings home. Deb has moved across the island. And all that's left is me and les. Not much left to the family it seems. But I guess that all happens, I guess that's life.

First impressions

Have you ever said or did something to/in front of someone that you never meet before, just trying to let them see that you're a nice person, only to let it blow up in your face? I find I do that a lot and it drives me nuts. Some people say I come off as rude or stuckup when all I'm doing is trying to be funny. I also swear I have a hearing problem and can't hear very well from time to time. People come up to me and are like, "I saw you in the mall yesterday and I was calling out to you and you just kept walking, you made me look like a goof!" or "you just walked right past me and didn't even say Hello!"
I also have selective sight, if I'm not looking for you then I most likely won't see you first. Sometimes when I go out without my glasses I can't see you till you're like 2 feet away from my face.
Some people just don't understand and have no forgiveness in them. I pity them.
I also had a learning problem, and didn't get him till I was in Jr High school. How many people can say they didn't know how to read on their own till the were in grade 8??
Sometimes I still read something today and get it fooled up with something else and then totally confuse the person I'm chatting with, and them myself.

Book Tag!

This seems like it will be fun.....Here goes!
I have been Book Tagged by RJ.
So I guess I'm "it"
Here is the list.

What is the last book you bought?

I bought the novel of the movie that is based on a set of novels (confused yet?) The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
I bought it 2 weeks ago at the Shoppers Drug Mart here on Torbay Rd.

Name 5 books you really like.

1) The Lord of the Rings by JR Tolkien.

I am still trying to get to read the Return of the King, but so far what I've read I really enjoyed.

2) The Case for Mars by Robert Zubrin with Richard Wagner.
I am very interested in anything to do with the planet Mars. This book gives great examples of how to settle the planet on a budget. None of those multi-billion dollar jobs that's for sure.

3) Red Mars Green Mars Blue Mars all by Kim Stanley Robinson.
I would have to count all 3 of these books as 1 because they all go together as a trilogy. The first book is about the very first settlers on Mars and what they do/did to get there and what they do once they get there. Very interesting. The second one is about transforming the planet into a place where humans can actually live without the aid of oxygen tanks and space suits. Also the conflicts of them feeling that they now own the planet and they don't like the idea of Earth now trying to force others to settle there because of the over populated planet. The third book tells some of the stories of the final few first settlers that have lived there over the yeas, this one seems to get a lot more political but still isn't too bad.

4) Down to the Dirt by Joel Hynes.
I don't normally read very many local books, and I feel like I always should. One day while reading the review of it in The Newfoundland Herald I actually picked it up and read it in a matter of days. If you know how I read books you know that this would be a really big deal!

5) If I Knew, Don't You Think I'd Tell You? by Jann Arden
This book is her journal. She is funny, sad, and just amazing. It was a great read and would recommend it to anyone. I don't actually own this book but may in the future...Who knows!

How many books do you own

Do I really have to count them all? Ok here we go.....(several minutes later after looking all over for them) 21 books!

Invitations

Amanda of Hug Me, Kiss Me

Amanda. B. of The Vicious Cycle

Jenn of The Ramblings of Me

Nikki Ann of Nikki-Ann: Journal
Cyn of Simply Cyn

Anyone else is welcome to try this too!

Two guys who don't know how to cook = smoke

Well, Out downstairs neighbor's don't seem to know how to cook, the fire alarm when of yesterday and now just then I was in the bedroom I was smelling something that smelt like nail polish and smoke. A few seconds later their fire alarm went off ..... Again! We got to get fire insurance and quick! That's if we're not burnt in our sleep. *knocks on wood*
We had a yard sale today. A lady was there with her dog and he looked just like our dog that died a few years back, only a little bigger and brown.
I got a bad sunburn on my neck and arms and made about 36.00!!
My vacation was ok, but very busy. I'd like to have a week where I didn't have to move boxes and furniture and things like that.
While walking Jenn home tonight a nice orange striped cat maybe about 1 year old followed us home, and I tried to scare it away but all it would do is look at me. So we went to Irving later and the cat was out there waiting for us and followed us IN the store, it had a fine look around the place and then when we left it stayed there and looked like he/she had itself attached to another couple that was walking in. Poor thing looked so skinny, I bet it was a poor stray

Blah Day

Today is a total "Blah Day" I don't really feel like doing much and haven't really done much yet besides some laundry. I'm still working on getting some pictures up from the last time back home. I also have to work on some sites for people and also work on this one some more.
We were watching some home videos that mom had dug up. This one was from when I got hit in the mouth with a hockey stick.....Remember that Deb?! hahahahaha, anyways, we were certainly a goofy bunch. Deb also had BIG hair! And Les was this annoying little camera hog and I was just plain annoying lol ;^)
