The Weather Man

Jenn and I saw a movie on Sunday, it was the first movie date we had in ages. There really wasn't a movie that "tickled our fancy" so we just picked one, and might I say that was a big mistake. Jenn and I have both seen the previews like I'm sure some of you have. The movie is The Weather Man with Nicholas Cage as the main character. For starters, the previews....Or "sneak peek" as you may call it, is totally misleading. From those short clips they managed to cram everything funny into that 30 second to a minute preview. That should really say something about it. It is NOT a comedy. It is a morbid, depressing, cold, drama that makes you angry when it's over and feeling like you've missed 2 hours of your life that you will never get back.
It's about a man, a weather man who works a total of 2 days a week, and makes 230,000.00 a year and is divorced and has 2 kids. His wife is nice and sensible. I don't know how she managed to live or even marry him. Their daughter is depressed, smokes and is kinda on the chubby side. He put her in ballet and everyone calls her camel toe (shutters ) and she is TWELVE! Holy moly, and someone sells her smokes. What's wrong with the people in this movie. The son is 16 and he apparently has a drug problem and is just finishing up rehab. The ex-wife now has a new man and this makes the character Nick plays very mad. His father also has cancer and is dying. He doesn't really seem to care about that, or just doesn't show it. I found all the characters were flat and 1 dimensional. Not good at all. And off camera when he isn't doing the weather he is a real ass to people who walk up to him and say that they watch him on the news and would like an autograph. When he gets man he calls people "fucks" and "dildos" a lot. Which really is stupid. He also gets a lot of fast food thrown at him. Which was fun to watch .They all talk funny, and cant seem to keep a conversation going. For instance, there was a part when he was gong to work and his dad was there outside waiting for him to tell him he had cancer and this is sorta how it goes
Nick: "Oh, what are you doing here?"
Father: "Umm, well I walked."
Nick: "Are you cold?"
Father:"I came here to tell you something."
And that's how it goes. No one really answers anyone's questions and a lot of times they are not paying attention to anyone and say "what?" way too much. They also talk like this.
person 1 "I went to the mall today."
person 2 "oh?"
Person 1 "Yeah."
pause....
person 1 "I saw a nice shirt."
person 2 "What?"
person 1"I was thinking about buying a nice shirt."
Person 2 "Where?"
Person 1 "At the mall."
person 2 "oh"
And the main guy is hopelessly a loser and really needs a good kick in the face.
Overall it was disappointing and boring.
I would advise all that read this to ignore the movie and if you were to come across the movie in either VHS or DVD form to jump on it till it can't be played.
shitty movie.

Just for Laughs... The Concert

Well we had an awesome time. I have never been into the convention center before. It's a lot smaller than I thought. And as one of the comics put it, "It's like a big living room." First when we got there everyone was instucted to stay in the lobby area. There were very few seats but we were lucky enough to get some of the last ones. 20 minutes pass (we got there really early) and then we hear someone banging on drums. So we get up and go to the middle of the lobby where a crowd had gathered. There were these really funny street performers there. With Just For Laughs jerseys on. They were part of an act set up before the show started. You can read more about them >here<.
When we got in we seen that our seats were really good and only 4 rows back from the front. All 6 comedians were great, I laughed so hard. When it was over Shaun Majumder came out from the side of a curtained of area that was were the comedians went after they were up on stage doing their act. Jenn got her picture taken with him. She was so happy and nervous.
When we left and were waiting for the bus I was really tempted to buy some pizza from Big Bite Pizza as it is right next to the bus stop and that's all I could smell, but I resisted, YEAAAH ME! lol
I just had 3 days off and I have to go back today. I really don't want to tho :^( if I just had 2 more days off I think I'd be happy with that.

Just for Laughs

A little while back I heard that there was a Just for Laugh tour coming here to St. John's. So I got 2 tickets! I don't know how good the seats are, but at this time I don't really care. I'm just glad I'm going.
Jenn got a new job and her days off have been kinda left up to the mercy of her new manager, who is a real walking brain fart. I swear there's nothing between her ears. Jenn asked her nicely if she could have a day shift for that day since she had a concert on that day(a Saturday). She was really nice about it and said she would give her the whole day off. Then when it came time to do that weeks schedule Jenn noticed her manager had her down to work that Saturday night. She asked her what was up with that and she said she forgot. Well long story short, she left us hanging with the idea of not being able to go to the concert until yesterday. Then she fixed it and had her off again. So we're going!! Yeah!
I was going to have to sell the tickets if Jenn was not going to be able to go. I wasn't going without her. That would have been so bad if she was stuck working and I was at the stadium laughing my arse off.
I updated my flickr account with 3-4 pictures I took today of the trees.

What's up?

Nothing.
not much happening here again today. Really wet and windy again. The leafs on the trees are looking so nice and yellow and orange, with some red. Fall is a lovely time of the year but it's just so darn cold.
Christmas is getting so close now and I'm starting to panic a little. Time is flying by so fast.
I really have nothing else to say.

Strangers come a barging in

Well, Mikes parents are in tonight. His dad is going up to Alberta for a work term and they are catching an early flight tomorrow morning. So when you live outside of town it's great to know people in the city (like us) where you can stay without having to drive 4 + hours before actually getting to the airport.
They just got settled in and were sitting in the living room with Lesley. I had just sat down on the side of my bed to watch that European ghost show that comes on the W network (It always scares the crap out of me!) and all of a sudden we hear these girls scream HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!! And we hear like 8 people storm through the porch and into the living room! Les jumps up and I jump up and run to the living room. There were about 8 half drunk young girls in our house! They looked confused and asked if this was 26 Laurier Street. Les says "Noooooo this is 26 St. Laurent street."
They then realized they had the wrong house. They were really apologetic and left right away. We closed the door and like 20 seconds later they rang our doorbell. They had no idea where they were and said they were not from the East end and had no idea how to get where they were going, and plus, their Cab driver drove off on them.
So I printed off a map from Mapquest and pointed out where they had to go. It was only like a 5 minute walk, so I'm sure they all knew were to go. We locked our door after that.

Losing my memory

I must be losing my memory. Today for example. I'm getting ready for work and I have my wallet in my hand. I then put it in my pocket and then look down at the dresser and wonder where I put it. "I just had it in my hand like 2 seconds ago!" I said. Looked on the floor, the bed and back to the dresser, then I realize it's in my pocket. That stuff really scares me. I have no idea what's wrong with my memory.
Last night I had a glass of chocolate milk. I was thirsty again like 10 minutes later and wanted some more, so I go to the fridge to get the milk carton again and realize the milk carton is not there! I look on the counter to see if I left it out, no not there. Then the table, nothing. Then the coffee table in the living room(where I actually drank it to)....Nothing!! Then I thought Les might have been playing a trick on me and I asked her if she had hidden it. She said "No, I didn't touch it." I know she really never because she never came out of her room in those 10 minutes. Then she came out to help me look for it. She chuckled and said how funny it would be if I put it in the cupboard. She then opened the one with the glasses in it and sure enough! There it was!!!
What is wrong with me!! That's almost as bad as trying to put the dirty dishes in the fridge instead of the dishwasher which is what I seem to do on occasion.

Break #2

OMG! Do you know ho hard it is to bring up a big bulky bookshelf from the basement? I have to walk up a narrow stair way, then another. Then I have to get it in the kitchen and down the hall, then lift it really high over the bed and 3 feet of clutter on top of it and then lay it down inside the closet. Phew! I'm beat.
I'm putting the bookshelf in the closet so we can organize some of the mess in there. I though I was doing good till I turned around and away from the closet and seen all these bags and boxes I forgot to put back in. Grrrrrr, I hate having a lot of crap. I have it almost done now and hopefully soon you will not even notice I have EVERYTHING in the closet out and all over the bed and floor.
Man, I needs a Pepsi!!

Taking a break

I'm off now for the next 2 days. Jenn had to work starting at 8:30 am today so both of us went to the mall and we had breakfast at the food court. Mom's Place makes the best breakfast food there in my opinion. I then came home around 10:30 and Played the sims and lost track of time for about an hour and a half. Now I'm doing laundry and cleaning the bedroom. I don't think it will ever be clean.
When I came home from the mall I noticed this house smelled like dirty socks, almost like the Zesty Doritoes. So I went around and light every smelly candle I could find and opened all the windows. Now the house is cold and smells like berries and vanilla. I makes my nose burn.

MSN

So I was thinking about getting MSN messenger for my cell phone. Then I started to think about how many times it would beep at me when someone would send me a message and how I'd have to keep my cell always on for it to work.(Maybe? I don't know all the details of it yet)So that idea when out the door.
Did anyone else know that today is "National Boss day"? What the hell is that??? A day to celebrate the existence of the pointy haired weasels like the one in>Dilbert comics<??
Anyways, this will be another short entry, I'll write more later.

Crapachino

So During the weekend we all went to Chapters. It's the biggest bookstore I've ever been in, it also houses the ONLY starbucks on the island, from what I understand. It's all too overpriced if you ask me. When we went there Deb had bought this fancy looking iced cappachino and I wanted one. She told me the name so I could order it. While trying to remember the name I asked Deb one more time. "A Crapachino?" She laughed and said it was a "Frapachino"....a lady that was standing behind us laughed too from what Deb told me. Sorry people if I don't know the lingo. But stick me in a Tim's and I'm sure I'll leave with what I want. All that over priced stuff taste good but paying 4.80something for 1 drink is kinda harsh

Happpy Thanksgiving weekend!!

So tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day but I'd say just about everyone will be celebrating it today. That's what my family has always done anyways. Deb was in for the weekend but didn't stay for the actual feast. So it was just the 3 of us. We had so much food! Mmmmmm leftovers! I tried to make gravy, I usually make wicked Garvey but this time it wasn't getting thick, so I kept adding more and more to it and it wasn't helping. It tasted good, but felt so gritty and it was just like water. Les then surprised us all with apple pie afterwards! Double Mmmmmm!

Weekend

Sorry all for the lack of updates. I haven't been busy I've just been lazy. lol
I went to the gym again today and did a full workout like I normally do. My legs didn't feel like rubber this time either. Last time I didn't think I was going to get home lol
On Saturday past a friend came over and we all decided to go downtown. We went to this bar that seemed to be only accessible by climbing the CN tower! Oh my, talk about steps! I didn't think we'd get there. When we did get up there and in we saw that it was practially empty and not much going on, but we stayed there anyways. It filled up later tho. While down there I had the craving for a George Dog....Mmmm sausage with cheese! It was so yummy. But BIG mistake. Big greasy cheese covered sausage does not go well with a tummy full of beer. So I decided to go to Sal's and have a big pizza slice!!! Mmmmm bring on the heart burn! For the rest of the night I suffered with really bad heart burn but I didn't care. We then went back to that bar.....Climbed all those steps again, a few minutes later I asked what time it was and found out it was like 3:50am!! The bar was FULL at this point and I was getting tired and cranky. So me and Jenn went home and Les and Dave stayed out for an extra hour or two. By the time I got home and laid my head on the pillow the alarm went off. It was 7:30am. I didn't even remember sleeping! It was so weird and I was still very drunk. So I had no choice but to call in sick on Sunday (hey Deb, keep that hush hush ok?) I could just imagine the state I'd be in, talking to cranky stupid people all day long. I wouldn't have my job for long that's for sure.
