Some nice out!

You wouldn't say we had a snow storm last night from the way the sun was beating down today, unless you looked at the ground that is. So much snow fell, from what I read some places got up to 70 CM of it! That's a lot! The way the snow blew last night it didn't leave much in the path I had done previously but it did make a large drift right in front of the door. Which ended up going up almost to the top of the door (sorry no more pictures).
The guy the neighbor always hires to do their driveway shoveled just about the whole lot of snow on their side of the driveway over onto our side again. Bastard. He seen me out shoveling it too and did he say "Oh I'm sorry" or a "here, let me help you." ?? Noooooo, he comes over and asks "Got the time?" Idiot.
I was out there 30-45 minutes clearing a very small foot path through the driveway and cleared away enough snow from the door so it could just be opened.
When I came inside all was fine up to about one hour ago. My back started to get stiff so I lied down for about 1/2 hour. Big mistake! I could hardly get up!
I'm cooking supper tonight, so I better get a move on it if I want it to be ready for when Jenn gets home.

Snow update

Yep, still falling and still blowing around. I took another picture, I added a red line to show where the snow line really is, the rest is just snow stuck to the window and not actually the height of the snow. You should also know that to get to the door you have to go up 2 steps. So the bottom of the door in this picture is not where the ground is. It's actually lower

MORE snow!!

Last night we had a party to go to. When we got off work we first went to get groceries because of the storm that was going to hit us on Saturday(today) There were a lot of people there with the same idea it seemed, the store was packed.
I had a good time at the party, Jenn did too. Constantly laughing and just having a plain ol' good time. When we left the wind was after picking up, and we knew it was soon going to snow.
The city is shut down again. Snow is everywhere, it's so bad we can't even see the houses across the street from us. I can barely see across the front yard. We can't get out of the house through the front door either. We have a screen door outside and its the kind that has 2 glass panels and the bottom is metal. Well, the snow is just up past the metal now. If we have to leave the house we have to go out the back door, the snow out front is easily over waist deep. I took some pictures and will upload them shortly.

The Portney Family

I was on the VOCM website today and found a link to the Portney family support site. If your in Newfoundland, you may have already heard about it. Go to the website and see if you support this family. If so, sign their online petition. For the children's sake. Here is the website ==> Support the Portney family

Wedding

So Jenn and I are starting to talk about wedding stuff, noting really that serious, just the normal stuff. Like where we want to have it, which church and how many people we want to invite -or can afford to invite sounds more like it.
My head cold has since moved to my throat and I keep getting these little fits of coughs from time to time. It's all swollen too, I ate toast for breakfast today and it felt so good scratching my throat as it went down. Almost tickled.
Anyways I can't seem to type today without making mistakes all over the place and it's starting to drive me nuts so I'm going to stop typing now.

Snow snow go away

Yep, it's snowing again today. Snowed last night too.
Last night Jenn and I went to a party that a friend was throwing. We had a great time and did't get home till around 2am.
Today when I checked my mail I seen that I had gotten a message from an old blog friend that I haven't heard from since 2003. Wow, I was so shocked to actually get that email.

Oh no!!!

I had this big post written up at work and I forgot to post it!
Oh what a waste! It was witty and smart and funny and all that good stuff. Damn! I hate it when that happens.
I really don't want to writ it all over again. After all, you can't re-create a masterpiece! lol
To sum it all up I talked about the snow again and how our neighbor is a complete idiot for shoveling all their snow onto the driveway that I had previously cleared.
I also wrote about work and some other things too.
*sigh*

Too much snow

So it snowed yesterday. It snowed a lot. The weird thing about it is that the city busses never got taken off the roads. So we stayed open. I had to get a ride when I got off, it was just too much snow out there to walk. The roads were horrible, everyone was slipping everywhere and getting stuck. They city did a real poor job at clearing the main roads last night. When I got home I had to shovel. The snow was just over knee deep in the parking space and the path leading to the front door was hip deep. I had fun shoveling that! lol

Bonkers!

I can tell that today is going to be feeling like a typical Monday - even though it is Friday
Have you ever left something home and it feels like it will just totally screw up your day? I usually wear a ring now, since Christmas anyways. I forgot to wear it today, I feel like something is missing and it's really throwing me into a funk. It's like when you usually wear a watch and you forget it and you keep looking at your wrist for the time.
Also things at work here are just bonkers like normal.....hehe .....bonkers.....I think that is my new word for the week.
Poor ol' Jenn has a head cold something aweful and I bet I'll get it before she gets better. She is not as bad as I would be with the cold tho. I'm a big baby when I get a cold/flu I think most men are, or so I'm told and led to believe.
Our kitchen sink leaks. That is really an understatement, it more or less "gushes" when you empty it. We have this little metal tray in the cupboard to catch it. Our landlord keeps calling me saying, "hey I'll be by sometime today to fix it." and then the next day I get a message on my voicemail "Sorry I didn't get down there today something came up." Now he calls and wants to come down but we're both working and I'm not one for letting him in while no one else is home. he seems kinda loopy and simple to tell you the truth. He will have to wait now till Friday.

Mountain climber

I have declared myself an expert mountain climber.
Every day I test my skills, I go on a trip and climb some of the highest around. Snow, ice, rock and salt won't stop me. Yes you heard right....SALT. If you have no idea what I'm talking about it's the snow piles all over this place. No side walk around for miles, just road and mountains of snow. I dodge traffic and trace through hip deep snow(in some places) and I always come out alive, so I must be doing something right.

While walking home today I walk past the Virginia River next to Lawton's Drug store on Torbay Rd and what do I see? Plows dumping load after load of snow from the parking lot into the river. The salty dirty snow that may eventually make it's way into the river but, really now, it doesn't need any help. That poor little river, over loaded with garbage and now salty slush. There is already a shopping cart and loads of bags in there as well as a belt and the shine from a CD can also bee seen in there from time to time. That river used to have fish in it. USED is the key word here. Last summer I think I saw like 3 river trout where the year before when the river was less chocked with garbage there could be at least 50 fish easily seen. I'm going to go up there when the weather gets a bit warmer and I'm going to clean it. No one else will. Dirty lazy freggers. What the hell is wrong with people??

This city is NOT pedestrian friendly!!

I hate it when it snows here in the city. The city workers never seem to get around to plowing the sidewalks till it's almost not needed anymore.
I was waiting for the bus today and I had to wait on the road because the side walk was full of snow, about my shoulder height. Also I was so far out into the road that I was clearly a third of the way into the lane of oncoming traffic. I have no idea why the plow drivers feel the need to make the roads so narrow. It's not like it had no where to put the snow either. There is LOADS of room!
Cars and trucks zipping by me, their side view mirrors passing with a foot of me if not less. They don't seem to care. And why should they! They are in a vehicle and this city was made with them in mind!
If you don't believe me have a look around the Stavenger area where there is a shit load of "Box buildings" that holds such stores as Wal-mart and Zellers and Cost Co. The buildings, their parking lots and roads connecting the parking lots together. Hardly any sidewalks, most of them are grassy and not even real sidewalks. NO crosswalk besides the ones that are at one of the 2-3 intersections. And there, they don't have any right turn off lanes so the traffic can move freely without having to wait for the lights. You can turn right at a red light here as long as you come to a complete stop first. NO ONE stops. So when you try to cross when it's YOUR TURN you have all those people trying to turn right and it seems like they are going to plow you over before stopping. Idiots.......The drivers and the city planners are all a bunch of morons. There.....Phew....That's my venting for today.

2nd snow day!!!

Well this time I didn't have to work, I have the day off. If I did have to work today it could be a snow day that's for sure. Well I would still go maybe, I'd just be late.
My right arm is so sore from shoveling, I shoveled for 1 hour and 15 minutes in total today. It's really heavy stuff and it would seem like common sense to shovel "with the wind" But when it is as wild as it is out there now, there is no point because the wind is coming at you from all directions. So no matter what you do it ends up in your face lol

Cactus....Cacti.....cactyou

Jenn bought me a Cactus the other day.
It is very spikey.
Guess what I did with it the first night I got it! I dropped it on the bed!
So I was very careful in picking up all the needles that fell out and stuck into the sheets.

SNOW DAY!!!!

I went to work in a snow storm today. The bus was not that late, just by 5 minutes or so, which was great. When I got to work it had gotten worse. Snow was up to my knees at some places.I got inside and everyone was talking about the weather and how they all wanted to go home.
We have this policy at work that when the city bus system goes off the road due to weather then you can leave work before it goes off so you can catch it.
So today when we were told that the busses would be stopping soon I got ready and left. I take the bus to work but most times walk home. Still, if the busses are being taken off the road what is the chances the roads and stuff are any better for walkers?? So I took advantage of this and left. Schools were closed too, I bet all the kids were very happy with that.
