Day off

Yesterday I had the day off due to the fact that it was Thanksgiving day in the USA. We are usually slow that entire week and this year was no exemption.
So yesterday I did most of the things I had planned to do around the house. Our bedroom window has a very cold draft that always leaves our room the coldest in the house during winter. I swear the basement is warmer sometimes. I walked down to the Canadian Tire store and bought some of that plastic you can put over the window and seal with a hairdryer. It worked like a charm! Not one draft and almost right away you could tell a difference. It was so nice and warm last night and the dampness in the room seems to be quickly leaving. I'm thinking now about getting one for the dining room window. We don't have table and chairs in there since we also have an eat in kitchen we eat there. It's more or less the TV room and the sofa is against the wall with the window and when anyone sits there they always say they feel a cold breeze coming through down the back of their neck. Very unpleasant I know. It's only $5.00 per kit so I'll have to walk down again on my next day off and get one.
One thing I had planned to do and totally forgot till it was too late was put the lawn mower in the basement out of the cold/ice/snow. I'll get around to that this Sunday I hope. Next year I just may sell it sine we will be moving and we will have no need for it at the place we want to move to. It's only 2 years old next may. Think I could get $50.00 for it? I paid $130.00 maybe I could get 60.00 we'll see.

Warm weather

This week has been wonderful. Very warm, so warm in fact, I could go outside without a coat! Now, that's something especially for the month of November. Today I heard that it went up to 18 degrees (that's almost 65 in fahrenheit) and I really wasn't surprised. I walked to work today and I regretted wearing jeans, it was just too warm to walk to work.
When I was walking home it had cooled down a nice bit. Cool enough to sear a light jacket but not too cold at all. When I was just a few houses away from my house I noticed 2 houses have their Christmas lights up and on already. With the warm weather it just seems absurd but when you think about it, it is almost December. I have a nice bit of my shopping done for the season. Almost all gifts are bought and what is left is just minor and I can pick up anytime...Besides one gift - But let's not get into that right now, right here lol

I am snip the elf

ARGH! Someone keeps trying to use my user ID to log into their blogger account. Once a day I get an email from blogger because apparently someone is requesting my login information to be sent to my email. This person needs to learn how to write down their passwords as well as their username. Or lay off the crack.

Pictures

I uploaded a whole load of pictures from my vacation to New Brunswick. I also wanted my family to see them without having to remember a long address, so I got one of those redirecting URL's
If you want, you can check it out and see the pictures!

More will be added throughout the week.

Hurt at work

Yesterday I was at work, minding my own business and all of a sudden the chair I'm sitting on breaks and tilts forward. Almost throwing me to the floor. I tried to catch myself but the arms on the chair needed to be repaired and were very wobbly and didn't help much, I ended up in a crouched position and the right side of my lower back tensed up and from then on I've been in pain. I've tried to make an appointment with my doctor but the next available date I can get in to see her is tomorrow. So I'm off work till at least then. I filed an injury report at work but didn't see the lady that takes care of it all in HR because she was at a different centre. I have to go back there on Friday to fill out some papers and stuff.
It's nice to have a few days off, but it's not nice when I can't do much of anything.

Bonfire night!

Well November 5th is Guy fawkes night....Or Guy fox... Not too sure of the spelled. This time many years ago I'd be counting down the time till it got dark and then we would go out and find a bonfire and hang out. We did it as a family. The Dawe family ALWAYS had the best in the town. It was always the biggest, brightest and one year they handed out those little sparklers to everyone. And another year my grade 1 teacher was there with a little stand and she was collecting for UNICEF and giving out hot chocolate.
Those days are gone now and I'm not sure, but I think it's illegal to have them now without a permit and you can't burn what they used too, such as old tires and stuff. Which is a good thing, I never liked it when the wind blew the smoke our way, would almost make you want to cough up a lung.

Fall weather

It's so nice outside today. I walked up with Jenn to her work and then I went to Lawton's Drugs on Elisabeth Ave and bought us a "Deal Or Nodeal" board game. I have played it a few times myself but you really need 2 or more to play. So far with the game I won $25 and $1000 woohoo! Raking in the dough! lol
I finally got around to putting the BBQ'er inside for the winter, all that is left out there now that needs to be brought in is the lawn mower. I already have space made for it down in the basement. I just need Jenn's help to bring it in and over the half-wall thing that is in the back porch. Then we'll be all set. The chair and the table that has been left out on the deck is falling apart. The finish on the top of the table has come off on one side and that little wooden chair is so warped I say it will be very unpleasant to sit on lol.
So I have the living room all put back to normal from when it was all over the place when the contractors were here, I also now have the spare room back to normal. One more room left and it will be just like nothing happened.
I put a window blind up in the spare room. Just a regular sized white coloured vinyl blind. When Jenn saw it she was a little shocked because our land lord said not to put anything on the windows. I thought the land lord meant in the inside like Christmas lights tacked all around the inside. This blind is in fact screwed in on top so it's not on the inside at all. We're unsure now on what she meant. But what can we do? What's done is done and besides we have to have privacy as these windows face the street and we live right next to a public walking path, so there is always someone close by. If the land lord doesn't like it then we can just put some putty in the holes and cover it with liquid "white out" or something.

About time I says!

Well I guess I better update before some of my friends start to think I've fallen off the face of the earth. Sorry people!
Sorry for the long delay in posting. I have been busy, and lazy all at the same time - imagine that!
The past few days have been long, very long as I was working 6 days in a row but now I have 4 days off and today is day 1 of 4. Woohoo! There is so much to do in this house like clean and start moving back the furniture since the construction crew has finished all their work. The house still needs lots of work and they did a half-assed job on the inside with painting and stuff. But it's good enough for us I guess, hopefully we'll be out soon. I was talking to our landlord and he actually said this time that he wanted us out by mid-may instead of giving us the option to stay or not. So I guess we'll be in a new place by then.
Christmas is almost here if you can believe it! I have about 1/3 my shopping done already, and the rest of it will be easy to get. I had planned to go out tomorrow to do some more shopping. I'll see how I feel about that tomorrow. The weather man is calling for rain and wind so if it's too bad maybe I'll just stay home and do some more cleaning.
