The cold

2 days ago I saw Jenn at work and she didn't look well, she said she didn't feel well either. That night when we were both home she was really bad, she had a cold. Not your average small little head cold. It came with chills and sweats and it got to the point where her skin ached when it was touched(I hate it when I feel like that) The next day I felt the same, so I caught whatever she was brewing and both of us ended up calling in sick yesterday. I really didn't want to because, well, I need the money and all but I just couldn't get out of bed for long periods and it seemed like I was extremely tired, I'd go to sleep for an hour and then wake up for an hour and I did that all day long!
Today I'm about the same, Jenn is much better but she has a really bad cough and sneezing like crazy. I'm just still and sore today mostly.
Tomorrow we are going down to the old house to help Les and Mike move. I'm hoping to be 100% better by then.

National Geographic

Sometimes on my break at work I like to go over to Sobeys and have a look at their magazines and see what is new. Well yesterday I saw the new National Geographic Magazine, and since it has not been delivered to my door yet I had a quick flick through it and saw an article about Newfoundland in it. I didn't have much time to look at it but it looked like it was about small outport communities. I can't wait to get it to read it. The whole magazine looks interesting this month.
Here is a picture of the cover:

Also, now that we have digital cable we have the biography channel. I was watching it yesterday and they had a biography on Mary Walsh! I had no idea they did shows on local people. I learned so much about her and I realized how much I enjoy her work. I love the biography channel :^)

Update

Our place is actually starting to look a lot better than a week ago when we still had boxes up to our arses all over the place. The last room that needs a good go is the spare room, that room has been used so far as the "room with stuff we have no idea what to do with" hehe It's really messy in there with boxes and bags and furniture.
One thing I can't seem to get used to is those stairs, they are steep and when I start to go down it seems like I pick up speed and by the time I get to the bottom I'm going at a break-neck speed and I find it hard to stop. Another thing that I can't seem to get used to is the noise level from outside, and look out if a firetruck or ambulance going up or down the road with their sirens blaring! sounds like they are trying to get into our apartment! haha But I believe that over time I won't even notice it.
All we need now is a good couch and we'll be all set. We really don't need one right away but it would be nice to have. I would really like a new one because it could be delivered and we won't have to worry about getting someone to do it for us.
I was on VOCM today, which is a website to a local radio station. It's where I go to get local news, and I read there that the government has finally put up a website about the sealing industry and they have a nice few facts there as well. The protesters are all going on old, outdated and some fabricated facts from that I've been told. So hopeful this will help iron out those, but who knows, they probably won't believe the website and go by what they are told by the likes of pamela anderson and heather mills instead.

Aliant TV

We got our digital cable TV installed yesterday and we LOVE it. We pay 29.99 for 75+ channels and a bonus of 2 variety pack channels for a month free.....one is all sports and the other are channels like DejaView etc. Also all the movie channels and even 4 free pay per view shows (at the 4.99 cost) for the first 60 days.
The tech that came out and installed it was awesome and sat us down and showed us how to work the system.
We are almost all unpacked and it's starting to feel like home now. I'm glad we're living here.

Happy Birthday to me!

Yesterday was my birthday. Some friends at work played a little joke on me by pretending they forgot all about it, then when I got settled away at my desk they came over with a card an a hellium balloon, and they were laughing. I'm always pulling jokes at work and they picked a good time to get me.
SO sunday night around 12am....Monday then I guess you could say lol I was setting up the internet here, only too about 5-10 minutes and I was able to surf! I ws very impressed with myself, I thought it would have taken me forever to get the 'self install' kit ot work, but Aliant made it so easy.
When we moved in I had this feeling I should plug in the cable to the back of the TV to see if I got anything. We did! But it was Rogers cable and not the Aliant digital cable we had ordered. So for the past few days we are getting cable for free. Last night I called Aliant to see about the cable we should be paying for. They said it was never set p and I should speak with sales. I called and waitied almost 1/2 hr and then I got hung up on. When I called back their automatid system said that they were closed. I was so pissed off. So as I'm typing this today I'm waiting on hold for them again, their office just opened. I thought there would be no wait but it seems like they are very popular in the mornings too.

See you later!

So tomorrow is the big move day! I can't wait to get it over and done with. We are still packing now, I'm just taking a little break for a bit then I'll head right back into packing the few remaining things left around again. Tomorrow the internet should be working at the new place. But we'll wait for then to see how smoothly that will go. If nothing fails then you may be seeing me online by the time the weekend is over.
Wish us luck with the move! see you all later!

Stupid me

I got a ride home last night as far as the Irving gas station on Torbay Rd. Since there was a lot of snow down I had to be careful walking that little path from the gas station to the apartment building on St. Laurent Street. The snow there is maybe a metre deep, but it is all compacted so it is hard enough to walk on and not go up to your thigh in snow. When I got to the end of the pathway I noticed that the snow was a bit higher. It was cold out so any amount of snow that was soft was now hard as rocks. I didn't think I was going to make it down the end of the path since it just dropped right down to the actual ground but I noticed that there were steps made into the snow that some people have managed to kick into the snow when it was softer so that made any doubt go out of my mind. When I started down the little foot steps I then realized that half way down they just stopped and there was just a slope. I couldn't stop! with each step I had started to slip and gain speed. In that second I though "I'm not going to make this I'm going to fall on my ass!" As soon as I ran out of steps my legs went up in the air and I landed hard on my left hand and foot and butt cheek. Then my head went back and that hit hard on the slope of rock hard snow.
I swear I saw stars.
I remember looking up at the sky for that split second before my head hit the snow and I remember seeing a plane in the sky just coming into view from over the apartment building. When I looked again it was gone over my view, So I was down for a good few seconds. I then remember sitting up really fast saying out loud "Don't worry, I'm ok!" Then I looked around and saw that no one was around me, I don't know what I was thinking, I don't know if I was thinking at all lol
I got up and started to hobble home. I didn't have far to go and I wanted to get home asap, so I ignored the pain till I got to the door of the house and then I could relax enough to complain to my sister and her bf about how stupid I was and how much I was hurting. Today I'm fine, except for a stiff wrist, so I'll be fine today.

The big move

So this weekend is the first for moving things to the new place. I took loads of pictures too, so maybe I'll post some for you all to see.
We had planned to move most of the stuff Saturday but it became stormy, too stormy to move anything, also the person that had told us they would help(we never even asked, she just offered)backed out on us and didn't even bother to let us know. We had to call around looking for her and she finally called us back and said she was stuck because of the storm. It would not have been too bad because we only had to drive for like 3 minutes either way because it's not that far up the road from where we live now.
So we were stuck with nothing to move our stuff with.
But today another friend came through and offered to help us. 5-6 trips later we got it all moved. I now officially hate stairs more than ever! lol
