Baby news

Well, I had not expected to give you all an update like this so soon.
Jenn is pregnant and is about 5 weeks along. She went to a doctors appointment yesterday and found out she is due on June 5th.

Finally got it figured out

All this time it has taken me to figure out what I'm going to do with this site and the inner workings of it all. I finally got it all straight in my head what I will be doing. Hopefully by the end of October everything will be on track and things will be smooth sailing.
There is one thing I learned through all this, just because a website that says it's Canadian and has a ".ca" in the domain doesn't mean it actually is Canadian!
I'll fill you in on some things that have been happening lately.
Jenn suprised be earlier this month with a gift! It was totally out of the blue and unexpected. She bought me an iPod Nano (8GB)!! I couldn't believe it when I saw it there on the kitchen table waiting for me. I was complaining for weeks about my old one I had. It was a first generation white 20 GB iPod that I had won through a Pepsi promotion. It was a wonderful prize when I won it those many years ago, but it just wasn't cutting it anymore. It was loud - Not the music, the actual iPod hummed and clicked like it was a ticking time bomb. The screen stopped working right and it would skip songs willy nilly, usually right in the middle of a good one too. Sometimes it even sticks and freezes. I had discovered that if you tapped it on it's back it would sometimes come unstuck, this lead to a dent in the back as it would stick more and more as I used it (Maybe I shouldn't be hitting it right?) It came to the point where it just wouldn't upload any new songs.
Also, some news about work. Apparently there is a bug problem on one side of the building, a flea problem to be exact. People were getting bitten left and right over there. I was just glad I was located at the far end of the production floor and it never made it's way over to my side. On Saturday past they decided to fumigate the place. You would think they would close the place down for a day but they never. They were spraying all around while people worked and apparently they even got some cans of outside Raid bugspray and sprayed it around. I heard NTV News even showed up when someone tipped them off about their lack of employee safety but the director of our site shooed them away. I would have loved to have seen that first hand.
I shall be updating more frequently shortly.

Summer coming to an end

Oh my! Over a month and no post?
You would think I was away doing something this summer but I wasn't.
I think I fell into one of those moods where I just didn't want to update. There is really nothing to update on either, so I guess I was saving you all from a boring read - Yet here is this post!
The summer is winding down and soon the leaves will be changing on the trees, the grass will turn brown, everything will get colder and snow will fall.....*sigh* depressing when I think about it. Where the heck did this summer go? I wasted most of it away while at work I know that much but I think some of it sneaked away while I was trying to avoid getting sunburned. With next to no summer vacation I'm surprised with the stuff I managed to get done this summer; Attended some parties, had a few BBQs and went on several long walks exploring the city. I wish summer was 6 months long....Then again, why don't I just move to a place where it IS summer all the time? No point in complaining....I'm in Newfoundland, and that is all you can expect here with the weather.

Host Quest

Well, I'm still looking for a host that I believe should be out there. I haven't found that host yet, I'm sure they are just hiding very well. Come out hosts! I won't bite!
I'm trying to outline what I'm looking for and a price I'm willing to pay but nothign ever seems to measure up.
For starters I haven't found too many that are Canadian owned and operated which is a big disappointment. I thought for sure there would be.

What to do?

I feel like an old person out of the loop whenever I try and read things about the internet, web hosting, website design and just anything new these days.
I get so confused sometimes I just log off and walk away.
I have this website here, I got it a few years ago and at the time it was perfect for me. Now I'm not so sure. Don't worry, I'm not talking about my blog in particular, I'm talking about the web hosting.
I'm not sure if I'm using the package that my hosting company provides to its full potential and I don't think I ever will. I just want a hosting company that will host my site and let me upload a few pictures here and there while keeping my domain name.
My yearly subscription is up in July and I don't know if I want to continue with it. I only have a VERY short time to decide this and not sure of my options. Anyone have any ideas on a place I can check out?
I would really appreciate it.

Gotta love the BBB

I have come to realize that owning a house has a lot of ups and also a lot of downs. In such a short time I've experienced both - I'd like to think anyways.
We have great neighbors to our left and we haven't even seen the neighbors to the right which I guess could be a good thing. We love the area we live in now. We feel at home and it just feels "right" here. I love the "small community" feel this place gives off, we've already made several friends here and I'm sure we will only make more.
Yes we bought a trailer and live in a trailer park, but once you're here you realize that Hollywood and The Trailer Park Boys have built up the wrong impression. It's very nice here. Our trailer is actually classified as a Mini Home since it has a peaked roof. Which is a super important thing to say when you're shopping for home insurance. When we went calling around for insurance first, we were getting quotes from around 1500.00 to 3000.00 a year! That is just way too much, when we started to say it was a mini home instead of a trailer it went down to around 700.00 and that is a hell of a lot better.
A big problem we have been having is with our house inspection. I thought that when you get a house inspected by a licensed and respected company you are in good hands and would not think that anything could have been over looked. I will not go into too much detail because I could write about it all night but long story short, the inspector over looked our furnace. When we got it checked by our oil company after we moved in they condemned it, so we have been without heat since May 15th. Trying to get this company to fess up that they made a mistake and to get them to replace the furnace is worse than pulling teeth. Since it was not working correctly and we were using it, we were being slowly poisoned by carbon monoxide, which could have killed us. We were going to take them to court but several lawyers said it wouldn't be worth our while (They really meant 'their while' we figure) So I contacted the Better business Bureau and now they are trying to help us out. It's now slow going but at least it is going somewhere instead of nowhere.

Drive by shouting

There is one thing I have noticed while walking the streets of St. John's, people like to yell at me while they wizz by in their cars. It's not like I'm jumping into traffic or causing them grief, it seems like they just enjoy yelling at strangers walking on the sidewalks. I can't even understand half the stuff they say:
"Throw out your balogneeeeeeeeeeee!"
Or
"Pit fats the shoe!"

I really have no idea. It all just leaves me with a puzzled look on my face.
I found that while we were going back and forth from the house to the apartment with our "old lady cart" It only increased the yelling. Who needs a MP3 player while pounding the pavement when you can be amused with the yellings of crazy people driving by.
So today we gave our apartment keys to the landlord. It's officially not our apartment anymore. Jenn is super happy to be rid of the place, but me....I don't know...it was a place of firsts for me, where a lot of things happened, good and bad. I'm not saying I'd ever move back, it's more like - Not trying to get all sappy here now - I've moved from one chapter in my life to another, from apartment dweller to home owner....imagine that.
